Students should arrive at school between 8:45 and 9:00. All students are to enter the school through their grade level doors, not the front door. If the temperature is over 20 degrees (wind chill included), the students will line up in the designated grade level area. If the temperature is lower than 20 degrees, at 8:45 the students may enter the building through the front doors and quietly go to their class. Students will need to stay seated in their class and find something to quietly work on.
Students have one 15 minute recess and a one 30 minute recess per day. Inside/outside recess will be determined by the temperature, including wind chill and air quality. The office will determine lunch inside/outside recess day at 11:30 am. Grade level recesses will be determined by the individual grade at the individual recess times.
Temperature is verified by weatherbug.com with the zip code of 84081.
As weather changes continue to occur, a friendly reminder of the Utah Department of Health “Recess Guidance for Schools." The guidance states:
-When the Particulate Matter (PM2.5) level is between 35.5 and 55.4 that "sensitive students" should be accommodated to avoid outdoor recess.
-When the PM2.5 level is between 55.5 and 90, "sensitive" students and those students experiencing respiratory symptoms should avoid outdoor recess.
-When the PM2.5 level is 90 or higher, recess should be moved indoors for all students.
At anytime, you can refer to www.airquality.utah.gov, under current conditions, to review the current PM2.5.
Please note that schools do not determine which students are considered sensitive. Parents need to communicate to schools that they would like their child kept indoors.
A “red day” does not necessarily indicate inside recess for all students.
